Dr. Mackenzie Griffin graduated from Trinity College with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Master of Science in Education in School and Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Griffin then went on to earn her PhD at the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities, studying Kinesiology, with an emphasis in Sport and Exercise Psychology and a doctoral minor in Integrative Therapies and Healing Practices. As a member of the Sports Medicine Psychology Laboratory at the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities, Dr. Griffin focused her studies on psychological, behavioral, and social factors related to sport injury risk, response, and recovery. Her primary research interests include examining integrative therapies as a tool to improve injury outcomes and safe return to sport after injury. She is also interested in understanding the role sport, exercise and injury have on athlete and exercisers’ mental health and exploring wearable technology and its influence on adherence to injury rehabilitation protocols. Dr. Griffin is a NASM certified personal trainer who is passionate about the promotion of healthy living and supporting individuals in achieving optimal health, performance, and well-being through sport and physical activity.
